Have you ever lost velocity on the team when you needed it the most, because your most knowledgeable engineers were on a call to ramp up others to a new codebase and you felt that it shouldn’t be this way? At Swimm we believe that all engineers should have a “swimmlined” environment where onboarding, outdated documents, or project switching will never slow you down. Our mission is to help engineering teams radically improve their knowledge of the code through continuous and auto-synced documentation. Swimm’s platform allows engineers to build documentation that includes “live” snippets and tokens from the codebase that auto-sync every time the code changes.

Swimm is an early-stage startup eager to make an impact on the developer’s day-to-day experience. In November 2021, Swimm launched its free open beta and announced a $27.6 million Series A funding round; Swimm’s total funding to date is $33.3 million. One of the strategic pillars of Swimm’s growth strategy is hiring a Director of Engineering to lead the Engineering teams, reporting to the CPO and partnering with the CTO and go-to-market (GTM) teams.


We're looking for a talented, knowledgeable and passionate Director of Engineering with strong communication and people management skills, who is capable of driving successful product execution. You will contribute to making quality products that will shape the way development happens by making developer’s life much easier, changing the onboarding experience, and making it easy for teams to quickly collaborate, get up to speed and stay in the know anytime and anywhere. We are looking for a self-starter and a thought leader that can help build a strong, positive, and innovative engineering culture within a growing team.


A glimpse of what you’ll be doing:

  • Establish a product-oriented Engineering leadership team, contributing to the company’s culture by implementing best engineering practices
  • Lead and develop the core Swimm platform to create engineering processes that are effective, efficient, and provide high quality fast iterations
  • Establish an efficient hiring process to meet the demand for rapid growth for developers and engineers
  • Managing and mentoring a team of managers, creating a synergy between the product and engineering teams in order to deliver features aligned with the technical standards and company vision


About you:

  • Managed at least 2 Engineering teams.
  • Scaled developer teams from 10-20 developer to 40-60 or beyond
  • Hands on experience in backend and frontend development
  • Managerial experience in a fast growing startup in an early-stage, pre-product-market-fit SaaS model
  • Passionate about building premium software with world class user experience
  • Superb leadership skills to develop and maintain strong partnerships with other teams
  • Strategic mindset to work independently and make data driven decisions


Bonus if you have:

  • Experience in managing distributed teams
  • You have a strong Product Engineering mindset
  • You have experience building tools for developers
